Responsibilities
- Help clients with daily activities such as bathing, dressing, grooming, and mobility.
- Remind clients to take medication and assist with administration according to care plans.
- Prepare healthy meals that meet nutritional requirements.
- Monitor vital signs and the client's condition, reporting changes to healthcare professionals.
- Support clients with memory care needs, including Alzheimer's or dementia, using specialised approaches.
- Use assistive devices such as Hoyer lifts to ensure safe transfers and positioning.
- Maintain accurate records of care provided, complying with HIPAA regulations.
- Perform light housework, including cleaning and laundry, to maintain a safe living environment.
- Assist clients with outings or community events as required.
- Follow all safety protocols, including CPR and first aid, as applicable.
Skills
- Experience in home and community care, assisted living, or long‐term care settings.
- Proficiency in monitoring patients, tracking vital signs, and implementing care plans.
- Experience caring for individuals with developmental difficulties, autism, or other special needs.
- Experience with dementia or Alzheimer's care, memory care, hospice care, or working with seniors in nursing homes or assisted living facilities.
- Ability to safely transfer and carry large items using tools such as Hoyer lifts.
- Strong communication skills to collaborate with clients, families, and healthcare teams.
- CPR and First Aid training is a plus; adherence to HIPAA rules is mandatory.
- A caring approach and patience when working with disadvantaged groups requiring social support.
- Attention to detail, adaptability to client needs, and teamwork orientation.
