Overview

This is an exciting time to join East Kent University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust as we seek to build an entire new legal team. The trust is moving from a heavily outsourced model to an in‑house team to embed learning, indirectly improve patient care, support clinical staff well‑being (within the team and the wider trust) and reduce expenditure. We are one of the largest hospital trusts in England, with five hospitals and community clinics serving a local population of around 800,000 people. Our vision is ‘great healthcare from great people’. Everything we do is guided by our values: ‘People feel cared for, safe, respected and confident that we are making a difference’. We have a new way of working at East Kent Hospitals, called ‘We care’. It’s about empowering frontline staff to lead improvements day‑to‑day. We’re looking for compassionate people to be part of our improvement journey for the patients, families and carers we care for every day.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in managing the trust’s large CNST/LTPS portfolio.
  • Independently manage low‑value claims from inception to conclusion.
  • Demonstrate efficient and interpersonal skills and capture accurate information for learning and reporting.
  • Assess and analyse cases for onward management and manage those that can be handled directly.
  • Coordinate the detailed management of all LTPS, PES, and CNST claims under the supervision of the Deputy Head of Legal Services.
  • Independently manage a caseload of LTPS, CNST, and PES claims in accordance with Trust policies, NHS Resolution requirements, and relevant legislation/regulations.
  • Provide weekly reports detailing the legal services workload and maintain up‑to‑date electronic records/Datix entries for accurate reporting.

Qualifications & Skills

Good knowledge of NHSR/panel and trust working relationships is essential.

Sponsorship
