Key Responsibilities
- Provide personal care including washing, bathing, dressing, toileting, and continence care
- Support with mobility, transfers, and use of mobility aids
- Assist with medication in line with care plans and company policies
- Prepare meals and support with nutrition and hydration
- Carry out domestic tasks such as light cleaning, laundry, and shopping
- Provide emotional support and companionship
- Follow individual care and support plans accurately
- Observe, monitor, and report changes in service users’ health or wellbeing
- Maintain accurate daily records and documentation
- Promote independence, choice, and dignity at all times
- Safeguard vulnerable adults and report any concerns immediately
- Work in accordance with CQC standards, health and safety, and infection control policies
- Communicate effectively with service users, families, and healthcare professionals
Essential Skills and Experience
- Experience working in domiciliary or social care
- Compassionate, reliable, and respectful approach
- Ability to work independently and manage time effectively
- Good communication skills in English (spoken and written)
- Willingness to travel between service users’ homes
Desirable Skills and Experience
- NVQ/QCF Level 2 or 3 in Health & Social Care (or equivalent)
- Experience supporting elderly clients or individuals with disabilities
- Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle
Knowledge and Competencies
- Understanding of person‑centred care
- Knowledge of safeguarding adults
- Basic understanding of dementia, learning disabilities, or long‑term conditions
- Ability to follow care plans and risk assessments
Working Conditions
- Community‑based role, working in service users’ homes
- Shift work including evenings, weekends, and bank holidays
- Lone working with support from management and on‑call staff
Compliance
- Subject to enhanced DBS check
- Right to work in the UK (Skilled Worker visa sponsorship may be available, if applicable)
- Completion of mandatory training and ongoing professional development
