We are looking for a driven and consultative Sales Manager to join the UK Metals Expo team at Easyfairs. UK Metals Expo is the leading annual event that brings the entire metals supply chain together with the worlds of engineering, manufacturing and construction at the NEC Birmingham. It is supported by the UK Metals Council and numerous trade associations, and features 300+ exhibitors and 100+ speakers across four topical seminar theatres covering industrial strategy, sustainability and circular economy, innovation and technology, and supply chain, trade and policy.
As Sales Manager, you will be responsible for driving revenue growth by selling exhibition space, sponsorship packages and year‑round digital opportunities to organisations across the metals ecosystem – from primary metal producers and stockholders to processors, fabricators, machinery and technology suppliers, logistics and ports, recyclers, and service providers.
The ideal candidate:
- Minimum 3 years’ B2B sales experience, with a clear track record of meeting or exceeding revenue targets.
- Experience in event/exhibition sales selling exhibition space and/or sponsorship for B2B events OR in selling to industrial/manufacturing sectors (e.g. engineering, metals, construction supply chain, industrial technology).
- Proven experience in new business development (outbound calling, prospecting, pipeline building).
- Experience in account management, including renewals and upselling existing customers.
- Confident and professional communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to engage senior decision‑makers.
- Comfortable selling via phone, video calls and email, as well as in person.
- Strong negotiation and closing skills with a consultative, needs‑based approach.
- Good organisation and time‑management skills; able to manage a busy pipeline and administrative tasks (contracts, CRM updates).
- Willingness to travel within the UK for client meetings and to attend UK Metals Expo and selected competitor events.
- Experience working with or selling into the metals, engineering, manufacturing, construction or broader industrial sectors.
- Knowledge of key themes in the metals industry such as sustainability, circular economy, net zero, supply chain resilience, productivity and automation.
- Familiarity with working to structured activity KPIs (calls, meetings, proposals, pipeline coverage) and comfortable in a performance‑driven environment.
- Experience using a CRM system (e.g. Salesforce, HubSpot or similar) for pipeline management and reporting.
- Ability to interpret basic market data (competitor analysis, attendee profiles, company news) to identify new opportunities.
About the role:
You will combine new business development with account management, building long‑term relationships and ensuring UK Metals Expo continues to be the must‑attend annual event for the metals industry.
- Own and deliver a personal revenue target (stand space, sponsorship, digital media) for UK Metals Expo.
- Proactively generate new business through outbound calling, email, social selling and video meetings.
- Manage and grow a portfolio of existing exhibitors and sponsors, focusing on renewal, upsell and multi‑year agreements.
- Sell across the full range of opportunities: Exhibition stands and floorplan optimisation, Sponsorships (theatres, features, networking functions, branding), Year‑round digital and lead‑generation products (website, newsletters, content, etc.).
- Build and maintain strong relationships with key decision‑makers at metals producers, stockholders and distributors, processors, fabricators, machinery and technology providers, logistics, recyclers and associated services.
- Meet exhibitors and prospects face‑to‑face at UK Metals Expo, competitor events and client visits, presenting tailored proposals and closing deals.
- Maintain an accurate and up‑to‑date pipeline in the CRM, including activity logging, forecasting and reporting.
- Hit agreed daily activity KPIs when in the office (e.g. c. 40 outbound calls, 90 minutes talk time, 15+ meaningful interactions per day).
- Work closely with the Event Director and marketing team to identify target segments and key accounts, shape campaigns and messaging that resonate with the metals industry, and contribute ideas for new features, zones and partner initiatives.
- Collaborate with operations and customer success to ensure a smooth customer journey from contract to on‑site delivery.
- Stay informed about market developments in the metals and industrial sectors (e.g. decarbonisation, circular economy, reshoring, supply chain resilience) to hold credible conversations with clients and identify new revenue opportunities.
- Represent Easyfairs professionally at UK Metals Expo, industry events and meetings, acting as a brand ambassador.
