Client Description: The hiring organization is a global leader in engineering and construction for the energy and infrastructure sectors. They operate as a "One Company" structure with a focus on technological innovation and a purpose of engineering for a sustainable future, specifically supporting clients on the pathway toward Net Zero.

Scope:

  • Business Line: Positioned within the Offshore Wind business line, specifically reporting to the Floating ILA Engineering Manager.
  • Core Focus: Responsible for all activities related to turbine design and interfacing with turbine Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs) in offshore wind.
  • Working Model: A full-time contractor role (outside IR35) featuring a hybrid working model with flexible hours.
  • Location: Based in Kingston upon Thames, UK. Applicants must possess permanent UK right-to-work status.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Aeroelastic Modeling: Building and verifying aeroelastic models of the turbine and supporting the turbine tower design.
  • Controller Management: Managing the development, tuning, and verification checks of the turbine controller.
  • Technical Analysis: Providing advanced, non-conventional structural analyses and numerical simulations for the Offshore Wind business unit.
  • Stakeholder Liaison: Coordinating with external contractors regarding turbine models and participating in technical meetings with clients.
  • Reporting & Monitoring: Monitoring and verifying the ILA (Integrated Load Analysis) and writing high-quality industry-standard technical reports.

Qualifications:

  • Education: Chartered Engineer status is required; an Aeronautical degree is preferred.
  • Experience: 10–15 years of design experience in offshore wind, covering both floating and fixed wind substructures.
  • Technical Expertise: In-depth knowledge of turbine design (WTG) and industry codes/standards (including DNV and IEC).
  • Proficiency in specialized engineering software: such as OrcaFlex, Bladed, and Fast.
  • IT Skills: Strong proficiency in MS365.
