Are you a spoken word poet who loves inspiring young people?

Excitingly, Eastside ’s flagship programme, Spoken Word Power , is expanding across London next academic year and we are looking for passionate spoken word artists to deliver creative workshops in schools, taking students on a journey from page to stage!

We’re keen to hear from spoken word poets with experience of working with children and young people in schools, and we’d especially welcome applications from artists who have worked in SEND (Special Educational Needs and Disabilities) settings, in particular with ASD, and/or Alternative Provision / Pupil Referral Units (PRUs).

We’re looking for artists who

  • Are experienced spoken word poets and creative facilitators.
  • Have experience delivering engaging workshops for children and young people in primary, secondary and/or SEND schools, or alternative provision
  • Can confidently adapt to different learning needs, classroom environments and abilities.
  • Are passionate about using spoken word and performance to build confidence, creativity and self-expression in children and young people.
  • Are organised, reliable and able to work independently.
  • Are friendly and professional, and able to represent Eastside positively whilst delivering on creative projects.
  • Desirable: Have lived / worked in any of the following boroughs: Barnet, Brent, Camden, Ealing, Hammersmith & Fulham, Harrow, Kensington & Chelsea, and the Cities of London and Westminster as well as East London boroughs.

  • £250 per full-day workshop and £170 per half-day workshop.

  • About Spoken Word Power

Spoken Word Power is one of Eastside’s flagship creative learning programmes, empowering young people to find their voice through poetry, performance and storytelling.

Students have the opportunity to write their own original spoken word poetry and form it on a West End stage!

The bulk of activity in this programme will take place January – March 2027, with an artist training taking place in November.
