Trustee Opportunities at the Frank Parkinson Yorkshire Trust

The Frank Parkinson Yorkshire Trust offers you the chance to help shape the future of a long-established charity providing housing and support for older people, alongside grants benefiting local charities and educational opportunities.

This is a rewarding opportunity to contribute your skills, knowledge and experience to the strategic direction, governance and oversight of the Trust. We are particularly seeking a trustee with experience in landlord or property management, housing compliance, asset management, building safety, housing operations or a related technical discipline.

We are also seeking a trustee who can make a broader contribution to the Trust’s strategy, governance and future development.

What is the Frank Parkinson Yorkshire Trust?

The Frank Parkinson Yorkshire Trust was established through the legacy of pioneering electrical engineer Frank Parkinson. Today, the Trust provides charitable housing and support for people in need, with a particular focus on older people.

The Trust has 44 almshouse units in Guiseley and provides accommodation for older adults who meet its eligibility criteria, can demonstrate need and are able to live independently. It also awards grants supporting health and wellbeing, local charities, and education and training connected with the electrical industry.

What matters to the Frank Parkinson Yorkshire Trust?

We are committed to honouring Frank Parkinson’s legacy by providing high-quality housing for older people and supporting local communities.

We are looking for people who share our purpose and values, care about improving the lives of older people, can think strategically and exercise sound judgement, and will work collaboratively and respectfully with fellow trustees and staff.

Please make sure you read our Candidate Information Pack before applying. It contains important details about the roles and our organisation.

Don’t think you quite meet all the specifications? Please don’t count yourself out. We welcome applications from people with a wide range of backgrounds and experiences who can contribute to the effective governance and future development of the Trust.

If you have specific questions about the role or the application process, please contact Lucinda Shaw at lucinda@eastsidepeople.org to arrange a call. Having a call of this kind will not influence the success or otherwise of your application.

We want you to have every opportunity to demonstrate your skills, ability and potential. If you require assistance or reasonable adjustments during the application or interview process, please contact us so we can support you appropriately.
