Our primary focus is potatoes and beetroot, and we are the largest grower of these crops in the UK.
The role of Water Tester and Crop Sampler involves duties such as QC work, taking water samples for our fresh crops, sampling crops in the field, and delivering them to managers or QC. Crops will include beetroot and potatoes. Experience is not necessary; a desire to learn new skills and gain insight into the processes that help food reach your plate is essential. Most duties will be within 40 miles of CB7, so a driving license and a vehicle are required (mileage paid). This is an active, hands-on role requiring early starts and the ability to navigate safely between field locations throughout the day. You should be comfortable with driving and walking, as sample collection often involves working directly in the fields. You will be provided with a daily work schedule, sampling equipment, and full instructions on how to collect and handle crop samples, adhering to health and safety protocols.
Special requirements:
- Collect water samples from irrigation systems and surface water sources for quality analysis.
- Conduct field sampling of crops for nutrient content, pesticide residue, disease presence, and overall health.
- Perform on-site water testing or prepare samples for laboratory submission.
- Record and maintain accurate sampling logs and testing results.
- Report any abnormalities or contamination issues.
