The Role
Easton Church of England Primary School serves a vibrant, diverse and resilient community at the heart of Bristol. Our school community is predominantly Somali and includes many refugee and asylum-seeking families, bringing a rich range of languages, cultures and experiences that contribute to the life of the school. The Parent Support Worker is a new role, funded by the Diocese of Bristol Education Foundations Fund, created to strengthen the partnership between home and school and to ensure that every family feels confident, connected and able to access the support and opportunities available to them. The postholder will play a key role in helping families engage fully with their children's education, access statutory and community services, and participate in the wider life of the school. A distinctive feature of this role is its faith dimension, reflecting our identity as a Church of England school serving a majority Muslim community. The successful candidate will help build meaningful and respectful relationships between the school, Easton Family Centre Church (our partner church), and the faith communities represented within our families.
Working alongside established community groups including Bridges for Communities and the Sadaga Arabic Women's Group, they will foster understanding, connection and a shared sense of belonging across the community.
The Parent Worker will provide practical support to families in areas including:
- Supporting children and families through secondary school transitions.
- Helping families access statutory, voluntary and community services.
- Promoting strong school attendance and engagement.
- Improving digital inclusion and confidence in accessing online services.
- Encouraging parental involvement in learning and school life.
