We are recruiting on behalf of our client for a highly motivated and detail-oriented Machine Operative. In this role, you will be instrumental in operating a variety of machinery and power tools to produce high-quality products efficiently and safely. Based in Quarry Hill, Ilkeston.

Responsibilities

  • Operate various manufacturing machinery and power tools, including Routers, Drills and Circular Saws.
  • Monitor machine operations continuously, making adjustments as needed to maintain optimal performance and product quality.
  • Conduct routine inspections to ensure a high quality finished product.
  • Read and interpret technical drawings and instructions.
  • Maintain a clean and safe work environment by following safety protocols related to machinery operation, materials handling, and fabrication processes.
  • Perform routine maintenance on machines and report any malfunctions or repairs needed to ensure minimal downtime.
  • Assist with materials handling tasks including loading/unloading raw materials or finished goods.
  • Support bench operations when required, ensuring parts are finished to a high standard.
  • Collaborate with team members on continuous improvement initiatives aimed at enhancing efficiency and safety within the manufacturing facility.

What we are looking for

  • Proven experience operating machinery and power tools within a manufacturing environment.
  • Strong understanding of manufacturing processes and assembly techniques.
  • Proficiency in reading technical drawings and instructions.
  • Ability to carry out visual quality control inspection.
  • Experience with factory safety procedures related to machinery operation and materials handling.
  • Basic math skills necessary.
  • Mechanical aptitude combined with factory experience that demonstrates adaptability across different manufacturing tasks.
  • Strong communication skills for effective teamwork within a fast-paced production environment.
