The salary advertised is full time (35 hours per week). Part-time hours will be pro-rated accordingly.

Hourly rate of pay: £12.96 – £13.78

Saturday, 10:00-12:30 & 13:00-16:00

The successful candidate will have experience of responding quickly to changing customer and service needs.

This is a busy and varied role offering support with a wide range of Council services. The team also process applications for National Entitlement Cards and offer supported appointments for those unable to apply online for Blue Badges so strong communication and people skills are crucial.

The successful candidate will be required to help support customers access services online and as such they must have strong digital and communication skills.

Libraries are warm spaces within local communities and offer opportunities to reduce social isolation by providing a welcoming atmosphere as well as group activities for adults.

Libraries are very popular with children and young people and the successful candidate will have experience of and enjoy working with them. Regular tasks include leading Bookbug song and rhyme sessions, sensory story times, code clubs, homework clubs, reading groups, reminiscence and other groups for children and families.

Our teams work flexibly across our offices and the successful candidate will be required to cover other locations across East Lothian potentially at short notice when required.

To Support the day to day delivery of front line customer and library services. Work flexibly across a number of locations as required.

Job Requirements

Relevant Qualifications
A minimum of SVQ1/Standard Grade General level English/Maths or National 4 English/Maths or Literacy/Numeracy or Intermediate 1 Communication/Numeracy and/or able to demonstrate equivalent knowledge, skills and competencies gained through relevant experience.
