The Role
We are seeking a Newbuild Clerk (Clerk of Works) to join our Surveying Team on a full-time, permanent basis. You will play a key role in ensuring our residential property developments are delivered to the highest standards, monitoring construction progress, overseeing snagging and defects, and ensuring full compliance with building regulations and specifications. You will produce clear clerking reports, attend site meetings, and provide practical solutions to maintain quality across all projects.
We are looking for an experienced professional with a background in building surveying or domestic newbuild construction. The ideal candidate would have strong technical knowledge, an eye for detail, and a clear understanding of building regulations, industry standards, and defect identification. Knowledge of the Decent Homes Standard, HHSRS, and site safety practices is vital, alongside strong communication skills and the ability to work confidently with contractors, consultants, and colleagues.
Responsibilities
- Monitor construction progress and ensure delivery to the required standards
- Oversee snagging, defects, and quality across projects
- Produce clerking reports and attend site meetings
- Ensure compliance with building regulations and specifications
- Provide practical solutions to maintain project quality
Qualifications and Skills
- Experience in building surveying or domestic newbuild construction

Benefits and Compensation
- Permanent, Full-time contract (37h p/w)
- Group stakeholder pension plan (Eastlight will double, up to 5% of the employee’s contribution – Employee 5% + Eastlight 10% = Total 15%)
- 30 days annual leave plus bank holidays
- Annual wellbeing grant of £200 per annum – Subject to eligibility
- Trailblazing family leave (Maternity, Paternity and Adoption – 12 weeks full pay/6 weeks half pay) – Subject to eligibility
