Salary: Main Pay Range M1 - £40,317.00 FTE - M6 - £52,300.00 FTE (plus R&R allowance up to £5k)

Key Responsibilities & Accountabilities

  • Attainment and Progress
    • Ensure all students, including those with SEND make at least good progress across all of the key stages as defined by external and internal data.
    • Use data effectively to track and monitor student progress.
    • Address variations between the progress made by different groups of students and diminish the achievement gap.
    • Ensure attainment of students is at least good when compared to national averages.
    • Ensure all learners acquire knowledge of the curriculum quickly and in depth.
    • Ensure all learners develop literacy, communication and numeracy skills.
  • Teaching, Learning & Assessment
    • Meet all the professional standards for teachers.
    • Teach and plan high quality lessons in which students make at least good progress.
    • Deliver consistently strong lessons and promote high expectations of all students.
    • Acquire and maintain excellent and up to date subject knowledge.
    • Assess students’ prior knowledge, skills and understanding accurately.
    • Check students’ understanding throughout lessons and use data to inform interventions.
    • Use imaginative teaching strategies to support individual learners.
    • Promote high levels of enthusiasm for learning amongst all students.
    • Encourage students' confidence and independence.
  • Personal Development, Behaviour and Welfare
    • Develop effective partnerships with parents, carers, other staff and students.
    • Establish a positive learning environment in the classroom.
    • Ensure high levels of engagement, courtesy, collaboration and cooperation among students.
    • Model the highest standards of attendance and punctuality.
    • Manage student behaviour through a consistent approach.
    • Take active steps to eradicate all forms of bullying.
    • Be aware of safety and how to keep themselves and others safe.
  • Leadership and Management
    • Drive to improve achievement for all students.
    • Support the Curriculum Leader in self-evaluation activities.
    • Focus on improving the quality of teaching and learning.
    • Provide rich experiences for high quality learning.
    • Engage with parents and carers effectively.
    • Seek regular feedback and be active in team meetings.
    • Use strategies to tackle student underperformance.
    • Participate in quality assurance processes.
    • Work positively with the curriculum team and other staff.
    • Meet statutory requirements for safeguarding.
  • General responsibilities
    • Contribute to the overall leadership and management of the school.
    • Tutor an assigned tutor group according to school policy.
    • Implement school policies and code of conduct.
    • Be a visible presence around the school.
    • Attend relevant meetings and parents’ meetings.
    • Perform other duties as required by the Head.
