Medlock Square marks a bold new chapter in the evolution of the Etihad Campus — a vibrant, year‑round destination for culture, leisure and entertainment, set alongside two global icons: the Etihad Stadium, home of Manchester City Football Club, and the landmark Co‑op Live arena. Named after the River Medlock that runs beneath the site, the development celebrates Manchester’s industrial heritage while shaping its next era of city‑defining experiences.

At the heart of this new district will be an extraordinary food and beverage offer: from relaxed coffee houses and all‑day dining to flagship restaurants and premium culinary experiences. Designed to serve both everyday visitors and major event audiences, Medlock Square will deliver high‑quality hospitality all week long and across the events calendar.

As Barista, you will be part of the team delivering a high‑quality coffee and guest experience within a relaxed, all‑day café and bar. Blend is a welcoming space that transitions from a daytime café serving specialty coffee and artisanal pastries to an evening bar offering curated wines and craft beers. You will play a key role in creating a friendly, efficient, and consistent experience, ensuring every coffee is prepared with care and every guest feels welcome.

  • Coffee Quality & Product Excellence: Prepare high‑quality coffee and beverages in line with venue standards, ensuring consistency in presentation, taste, and quality. Support the delivery of an exceptional coffee programme through attention to detail, equipment care, and maintaining a clean, organised workstation.
  • Service & Guest Experience: Deliver a warm, welcoming, and engaging guest experience throughout every service period. Build positive relationships with guests, confidently recommend products, and ensure service is efficient, friendly, and reflective of the venue’s hospitality standards.
  • Team Collaboration & Development: Work collaboratively as part of a multi‑skilled team, supporting colleagues across both café and bar operations where required. Take an active role in developing product knowledge and coffee skills while contributing to a positive, supportive, and high‑performing team culture.
  • Operational & Commercial Support: Support the smooth day‑to‑day operation of the venue through effective setup, close‑down, stock management, and maintaining service readiness. Contribute to sales growth through product knowledge, upselling, and creating memorable guest experiences that encourage repeat visits.
  • Compliance & Standards: Maintain high standards of cleanliness, food safety, health & safety, and equipment care at all times. Complete required checks and follow operational procedures to ensure a safe, compliant, and well‑presented environment for both guests and team members.

Skills, Knowledge & Expertise

  • Essential: Previous experience as a Barista or in a customer‑facing hospitality role, passion for coffee and delivering great guest experiences, strong communication and teamwork skills, ability to work in a fast‑paced environment, positive, flexible attitude with willingness to learn, availability to work evenings, weekends, and event days.
  • Desirable: Experience with specialty coffee, basic knowledge of espresso extraction and milk texturing, experience in café/bar or all‑day dining environments, interest in developing barista skills further.
