Role Overview
Easthorpe School is an independent specialist provision serving children and young people in the East Midlands who live with their families, foster carers or in residential children’s homes. The school first opened its doors in November 2022 and is expanding the team to support the increase in pupil numbers. Class sizes do not exceed six pupils and are supported by a qualified class teacher, one teaching assistant and additional 1:1 support.
Responsibilities
- Plan and deliver high‑quality KS4 Maths lessons to small classes (max 6 pupils).
- Support pupils with complex SEMH needs and a range of diagnoses (e.g., Autism Spectrum Disorder, ADHD, Foetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder, Sensory Processing Disorder).
- Run GCSE mock exams and all levels of Functional Skills Maths.
- Supervise pupils during non‑classroom time, extra‑curricular activities and school trips.
- Build positive relationships with pupils to promote interaction and positive learning outcomes.
- Collaborate with the class team to facilitate learning opportunities and promote positive behaviours.
- Report on pupils’ progress and concerns, liaising with other school staff to ensure pupils’ needs are met.
- Implement behaviour management strategies and techniques.
Qualifications
- Hold Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).
- Hold a degree‑level qualification in basic education.
- Have experience teaching Maths GCSE and Functional Skills Maths at secondary level.
- Have experience working with pupils with SEMH within an educational setting.
- Be committed to professional development and willing to learn.
- Be willing to undergo an Enhanced Disclosure & Barring Service (DBS) check prior to commencing work.
