Easthampstead Park is situated in a breathtaking Grade II listed Victorian mansion. Our prestigious venue offers a captivating blend of elegance and natural beauty. Steeped in history and charm, this magnificent property provides the perfect setting for a wide range of conferences, meetings, training workshops, and unforgettable team retreats. Our grounds and mansion are also renowned for hosting stunning weddings & celebrations for up to 500 guests.

The Estate Groundsman at Easthampstead Park will be looking after the beautiful grounds and assist with general property maintenance. The primary role of this position is to make the building and gardens look stunning for guests – from general day-to-day tidying through to larger projects to improve the look of the property. Day-to-day reporting will primarily be to the Maintenance Manager and Operations Manager, with project work dealt with in conjunction with the General Manager.

Responsibilities
  • Ensure that the property looks great for clients at all times – clean and tidy entrance areas and terraces, with all cigarette butts cleared, gravel raked, gardens looking ready for guests.
  • Ensure that the gardens look stunning throughout the year – giving clients an opportunity to take/share photographs of the site.
  • Assisting the Maintenance Manager with general maintenance, including painting, varnishing wooden benches, setting up and maintaining the fountain, jet washing etc.
  • Observe all applicable Health and Safety requirements, including Risk Assessments, COSHH, regulatory and security measures.
  • Looking after the trees and plants around the estate to ensure they grow, flower, and thrive.
  • Grass cutting to designated areas.
  • Raising plants from seeds or cuttings.
  • Digging, planting and weeding flower beds and borders.
  • Pruning shrubs and trees.
  • Maintaining the compost heaps.
  • Checking the health of plants and controlling pests (including liaising with Rentokil).
  • Using machinery like lawn mowers and hedge trimmers.
  • Looking after the appearance of plants and the surrounding landscape.
  • Maintaining tools and equipment in the correct and safe manner.
  • Basic building tasks like laying patios, or putting up sheds and fences.
  • Carrying out basic arboricultural activities.
  • Cutting and maintaining hedges.
  • Pruning wall shrubs and climbers.
  • Maintenance of shrub borders including pruning and weeding.
  • Maintenance of herbaceous borders including weeding, staking, pruning and replanting as required and mulching.
  • Planting up winter features (including Christmas decorations).
  • Chemical spraying and application of fertilisers (kept to a minimum).
  • Leaf-clearing and litter-picking.
  • Maintenance of car parks.
  • Snow-clearing and frost-gritting.
  • Keeping garden buildings clean, tidy and safe.
  • Undertaking other duties as required by the GM/Operations Manager.
  • Be prepared to undertake necessary training.
  • Maintaining good relationships with other staff, visitors and neighbours.
  • Keeping the Operations Manager informed of equipment breakdowns or malfunctions.
  • Keeping the Operations Manager/GM informed of unfinished tasks.
  • Maintenance of garden features, including the fountain/pond.
  • Floral displays and flower arrangements to a high, professional standard for all events.
