Eastgate is continuing to grow, and we’re on the lookout for a Quantity Surveyor to join our team and help keep our industrial projects running smoothly. You’ll be working side‑by‑side with project managers on monthly progress claims, taking off drawings, keeping track of variations, and flagging any delays along the way. We’re after someone who’s confident with contracts, comfortable in a fast‑paced environment, and can balance technical know‑how with solid commercial thinking. Ideally, you’ve got a degree in Quantity Surveying or Electrical Engineering, plus 5+ years’ experience in the E&I contracting world.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Work closely with the project managers and quantity surveyor to develop the Monthly progress applications to include all values relating to labour materials management, plant and equipment and escalation.
- Take‑Off of all Construction Drawings to record and manage any changes on an ongoing basis throughout the project cycle.
- Ensure construction installation keeps to plan and any delays are recorded and communicated to client with the respective Cause & Effect analysis.
- Ensure the completion and submission of early warnings/ variations for any additional works outside of the agreed scope of work.
- Identify and manage project risks ensuring that these are commercially mitigated to provide a clear and up to date risk position.
- Prepare in‑house monthly commercial reports and ensure complete control over all commercial aspects of the project.
- Ensure that contract reviews deliver high quality, sufficient and relevant management information which provide clarity and surety to project leadership teams.
- Monitor earned values and calculations of spend vs earned values on a weekly basis.
- Ensure participation in handover of construction meetings for any and all projects concerned.
- In conjunction with the Project Manager, prepare CCS budgets for the projects and update as required.
- Prepare cash flows and update as necessary – analyse timing of sales and costs.
- Monitor and analyse project delivery status with project leadership teams.
- Mentor all personnel under your direction to enhance their capability and performance.
- Participate with and address any problematic situations on projects and to liaise with legal representatives.
- Ensure maximum profitability on projects under his / her control by pro‑actively approaching your duties and exercising commercial acumen.
- Compile monthly reports as directed by the Commercial Manager.
- Monitor progress on site, ensure that where applicable claims for recovery of loss and expenses are submitted timeously and agreed with client, liaising with Project Manager and refer to the appropriate conditions of contract.
- Highlight to the Commercial Manager / Project Manager areas in which target cost and sales are not being achieved by means of a monthly report.
- Any other adhoc duties as assigned from time to time.
EDUCATION SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:
- Degree in Quantity Surveying and/or electrical engineering. Trade background is also an advantage.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in quantity survey functions for E&I contracting industry operations.
- Technical and practical knowledge of all phases of contract development, award, administration and close‑out relating to a multi-discipline construction project.
- Knowledgeable of current industry and technical developments.
- Strong working knowledge of administering FIDIC or ICE and other similar contract formulation standards.
- Proven track record with recognised international standard contracting companies.
- Good communication skills and strong English capability.
- Must be capable of preparing “MTO’s” and compiling the Actual Construction Measure.
- Capability to accept responsibilities and accomplish project objectives in a timely manner.
- Computer literate especially with Microsoft Word and Excel.
- Must be eligible to work in the UK & Europe.
