Set up and operate Press Brakes in accordance with specifications, plans, and safety standards.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Regular attendance at work and the ability to work flexible hours, including overtime, weekends, and holidays.
  • Comply with Company, federal, state, and local safety, ethics, and environmental rules, regulations and policies while performing duties.
  • Daily operation of Press Brakes with minimal downtime.
  • Test and adjust machine controls and align tool position such as dies, gauges, guides and holding devices.
  • Position work pieces for processing.
  • Use measuring instruments and hand tools to ensure proper clearances, dimensions, and specified tolerances for work pieces.
  • Examine finished work pieces for conformance to quality standards.
  • Record information such as number of work pieces processed, dates, and times of product production.
  • Stack and band material for shipment.
  • Change/set-up tooling as needed.
  • Complete work order paperwork/documentation.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned or requested.
  • Roll/form complex workpieces that have multiple different radiuses with minimal supervision.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • May indirectly supervise and train subordinates.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Education/Experience: High school diploma or GED equivalence plus three years working knowledge of Press Brake machines; operating processes, procedures and techniques used in operating Press Brake machines desired. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered. One-year experience as a Press Brake machine operator required plus experience operating overhead cranes. Requires knowledge of ship terminology, safety, and OSHA regulations.
  • Skills: Basic reading and writing comprehension in English (to read instructions, tickets, safety and policies manuals). Basic measuring skills to read and convert English and Metric systems. Basic arithmetic skills to calculate and convert decimals to fractions. Basic knowledge in understanding drawings and calculate correct circumference of material. Minimum one (1) year experience as machine operator.
  • Behavioral Attributes: Communication: must be active listener, follow directions, recognize the value of others' opinions, talk with courtesy and respect, speak effectively regarding business manners. Time Management: ability to meet job deadlines; prioritize work orders effectively. Team player: works as a competent member of the team, willingly providing back-up support for co-workers when needed and actively supporting group goals. Attendance & Punctuality: must demonstrate timely arrival and attendance and adapt to business needs schedule changes.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

  • The employee is frequently required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms. This position is very active and requires standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, crawling, and climbing throughout the workday.
  • The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
  • The employee must be physically and medically qualified to wear all required personal protective equipment, as prescribed under Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) standards.
  • The employee must be able to work above ground at heights of a minimum of 50 feet aloft and/or working from scaffolding and/or man-lifts while working with machinery; in confined spaces and withstand extreme heat and cold in an outside climate or confined space.
