Under the direction and supervision of the Environmental Manager, the candidate will provide support in a variety of tasks throughout daily operations that affect environmental compliance.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Maintain regular attendance and work flexible hours, including overtime, weekends and holidays.
- Comply with company, federal, state and local safety, ethical rules, regulations and policies while performing duties.
- Assist co‑workers in ensuring production follows federal, state and local environmental permits, laws and regulatory requirements.
- Maintain inventory and storage of hazardous materials in accordance with company policies and regulations.
- Accurately complete and file required paperwork in a timely manner.
- Work with minimal supervision and carry out duties as instructed.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- One year of environmental work experience desired (equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered).
- Knowledge of ship terminology and environmental regulations desired.
- Ability to read and comprehend written or diagrammatic forms, plans and instructions.
- Ability to communicate effectively.
- Knowledge of safe operation and use of hand and power tools.
- Basic math proficiency (add, subtract, multiply, divide in all units of measure).
- Integrity, ethics, flexibility, initiative, interpersonal skills, attention to detail, safety conscious and multitasking ability.
- Maintain confidentiality of company information.
Physical Demands
- Frequent standing, walking, use of hands and arms, lifting or moving up to 50 pounds, working at heights of at least 50 feet, operating in confined spaces and extreme temperatures.
- Requires visual acuity and ability to wear required personal protective equipment.
Work Environment
- Exposure to electrical shock, moving mechanical parts, vibration, fumes, airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, loud noise and other hazards typical of a heavy industrial shipyard environment.
- Rigorous compliance with safety procedures and personal safety equipment is mandatory.
