The Opportunity

We are looking for a skilled and motivated Reading Leader to join our dedicated team. This exciting new role at King's Lynn Academy has two main responsibilities.

  • To establish a strong culture of reading across the academy, which encourages all pupils to recognise the value and joys of reading. This will include overseeing a welcoming and well‐resourced library at the heart of the school, whilst leading a range of other opportunities for pupils to positively engage with reading. This will be achieved by promoting competitions to incentivise and reward reading, organising events to celebrate a diverse range of interesting stories, and fostering partnerships with relevant organisations in the wider community to further pupils' experience of reading.
  • To coordinate programmes to improve pupils' reading proficiency. This will involve the administration of testing, analysis of results, and the planning of tailored interventions to effectively target pupils' needs and develop their reading skills. This work will contribute to the academy's broader ambition of ensuring all pupils are able to read to the expected standard of their age and fully access the world around them.

The Reading Leader will work in collaboration with colleagues across the school, such as the Head of English, to meet these responsibilities.
