East Sussex Fire & Rescue are opening up the recruitment process for our Operational (Grey book) Protection roles. ESFRS is an organisation committed to developing our people and creating opportunities to enable the continuation of professional development. Successful candidates will also continue to develop their potential through a range of tailored personal development opportunities in preparation for future roles and jobs within the Service.

We welcome applications for individuals competent against the Competence framework for Fire Safety Regulators, who wish to transfer into East Sussex. Appointment from the pool will be based on suitability for particular posts. This ensures the Service secures the right skills and experience in the right roles and jobs as we continue to build on our future.

Applicants who are unsuccessful in applying for a role as promotion may be offered a transfer at their current role with a development plan for future promotion. With L4 Diploma onwards, ESFRS offers an optional 10% additional flexible working allowance for changing of working hours to provide some evening and weekends cover on a rota. This is not additional hours but change of start and finish times.

A condition of the appointment to the role of flexible duty Station Manager position is that the post holder will provide operational cover from within 5 minutes of the County boundary. Unfortunately, we are unable to offer relocation expenses.

The pool process will start with the submission of an online application with line manager’s approval. Those that are shortlisted from the application will be invited to the next stage of the process, which will involve interview and could require an Initial test of potential (ITOP) for Incident Command.
