We have a full time Social Worker vacancy for up to 12 months, to cover for maternity leave within our Adult Social Care – Neighbourhood Support Team – Lewes & North Wealden

As an experienced Social Worker, you will need to be confident and competent in practice giving positive outcomes for vulnerable people from 18 years onwards who are assessed as meeting Adult Social Care’s eligibility criteria.

To carry out the role you will need a detailed knowledge of the Mental Capacity Act (2005), the Mental Health Act (1983), Equality legislation and the Deprivation of Liberty safeguards. You must be able to implement this legislation in your daily practice. You will also be expected to carry out the County’s section (42) safeguarding duties to protect and mitigate risks to the clients we serve.

You will be expected to assess clients in line with our other statutory duties such as section (9) assessment under the Care Act (2014), using a strength based, outcome focus approach. Experience of court of protection work would be an advantage in this role; however, training is offered to successful candidates.

You will need to be a Registered Social Worker with Social Work England and will have obtained a social work qualification, either a, C.Q.S.W, DipSW, a Degree or master’s in social work. Social Workers holding Assessed and Support Year Employment qualifications are also encouraged to apply.

As well as these requirements. we are looking for candidates who:

  • Can demonstrate resilience and flexibility to manage a dynamic and complex caseload.
  • Can meet the travel requirements of the role. You will be required to travel across East Sussex, including rural areas.

In return for your excellent skills and expertise, East Sussex County Council offers extensive training and career development; you will be supported by monthly individual supervision where you can develop your continuous professional development (CPD) via monitoring your work against the Professional Capability Framework and Knowledge and Skills Statement aligned with your level of experience. You will have the opportunity to engage in monthly reflective supervision with your peers to add towards your registration requirements.
