Buzz Active have three fantastic locations in Sussex and deliver a range of sail sport, paddle sport, land based and team building activities and overnight stays.
Based from unique locations in East Sussex, to the whole community. We are seeking passionate and energetic senior activity instructors for a range of roles across our sites in 2025.
- The Buzz Active Eastbourne team run sailing, windsurfing, powerboating, and paddle sport activities. We will also be launching wing foil and wing surfing.
- The Buzz Active Cuckmere team deliver kayak, open canoe, paddleboard, improvised rafting, Katakanu and XL SUP activities.
- The Buzz Active Bushy Wood team operate a land-based activities for the local Scout and guide district and our own residential packages to schools and student groups from Bushy Wood Activity Centre.

Buzz Active offer outdoor activities for the whole community, we engage with educational, local and overseas student groups. We deliver day and residential activities, from single visit sessions to activity days, ongoing development courses and overnight stays.
Daily duties will include opening centre sites, the setting up for and delivery of courses and sessions for the applicable qualifications held, maintenance and upkeep of the equipment, assistance with hire concessions and residential activities.
- Full-time fixed term contracts April until October – 01 April – 31 October 2025 / Peak season:9 June – 7 Sept 2025
- Peak season fixed term contracts are also available from early June to early Sept.
*Full season contracts have the option of annualised pay over 12 months from April-April.
RYA Senior and Experienced lead instructors across our other two sites will assist operations managers with the planning and deployment of the team, liaising with the chief instructor and operations manager in maintaining the equipment and mentoring instructional team through the season.
A pattern of work will be established however some flexibility will be required. Weekend and evening working will be required as a part of the role and additional hours will be available on a claim’s basis.
Eastbourne site
RYA Senior Instructors oversee and deliver Royal Yachting Association syllabus from our Eastbourne site. We seek qualified RYA Senior sailing and/ or windsurfing instructors with supporting qualifications.
Beneficial additional qualifications:
RYA Powerboat Wing instructor and Paddle UK paddle sport instructors.
Cuckmere valley site
Senior Instructors will oversee as well as deliver Paddle UK paddle sport activities from our Cuckmere site we seek British canoeing qualified paddle sport instructors and Paddle Sport Leaders to deliver a range of paddle sport certification, and guides paddle tours on the Meander and in the Cuckmere Valley.
Beneficial additional qualifications:
Paddle UK core coach, sea kayak leader, touring leader among others. We are happy to discuss the range of qualifications as British Canoeing have a variety of specialist areas which may benefit the site offer.
Bushy Wood site
We are seeking those with at least two or more of the following:
– GB Archery leader
– RCI or relevant climbing experience for in house sign off.
– Experience delivering team games and bush craft sessions
Beneficial additional qualifications:
– NSRA small bore rifle instructor YPS, Any of the above qualifications, Bushy Wood will be required to support activities at the Paddle sport site, paddle sport qualifications are beneficial.
All Qualifications must be supported by a valid first aid qualification suitable for the qualification held, a safeguarding module must have been completed by all applicants. RYA qualifications must have Safety boat certificate.
Buzz Active can offer Continual Professional Development (CPD). We run in-house and externally sourced instructor training courses including climbing, High ropes, bush craft skills, NSRA rifles instructor, archery GB instructor, RYA sailing, windsurfing and powerboat instructor. Paddle UK paddle sport leader and paddle sport instructor qualifications.
Use of centre equipment is permitted on site for personal development and friends and family discounts apply to some courses and offers.

With three outdoor centres located in unique locations around Sussex running a variety of activities gives candidates opportunities to work across the business in supporting other sites.
A mainstay of the Eastbourne site is our RYA sailing and windsurfing junior club membership, this takes weekly. We work closely with local sailing clubs and are open to the general public for private and group tuition.
At the Cuckmere we work closely with our partner paddle sport club at our Cuckmere location, offer private and group tuition and guided beach and river tours while operating a busy kayak and paddleboard hire concession on the meander.
At Bushy wood the range of activities on site includes climbing, high ropes, archery, air rifles, pioneering, bush craft and fire lighting, orienteering on and offsite, shelter building and practical leadership tasks and games, in which we welcome team to gain inhouse and accredited qualification in order to support the site.
Buzz Active can offer Continual Professional Development (CPD).
