Within the Highways Department it is our responsibility to keep people moving safely across the network and, in April 2025 we introduced a lane rental scheme which is a national initiative that sits alongside our network management permit scheme.
As Lane Rental Project Officer, you will be part of the Lane Rental Scheme team. Your responsibilities will include identifying all stakeholders and potential bidders. You will undertake preliminary feasibility studies with partners and stakeholders and process bids ready for consideration by the Surplus Funds Governance Group. You will also support project commissioning and monitoring.
Our office is based at Ringmer Depot but our hybrid working arrangements allow for a mix of working from home and office based throughout the week.

- Interpersonal and partnership working skills
- The ability to communicate effectively with a range of customers using tact and diplomacy
- The ability to motivate themselves and others in building and maintaining a positive profile of highways
- Able to use own initiative to solve problems, improve processes, and welcome change
