We are looking for a compassionate, proactive and organised Migrant Support Officer to join our dedicated team in East Sussex. This is a rewarding opportunity to play a key role in supporting migrants, including refugees and asylum seekers, to settle, integrate and thrive within their new communities.
Working as part of a collaborative multi-agency network, you’ll help coordinate local support, ensure access to vital services, and empower individuals and families to achieve sustainable, independent living.
A key focus is to understand the needs of our migrant communities and coordinate partnership efforts to meet these needs, in conjunction with responsibilities of national Government, local authorities, VCSE partners and other strategic and delivery partners.
The Migrant Support Officer role will provide day-to-day support to those newly arrived in East Sussex who require assistance settling into life in the UK and their local area.
Key responsibilities include conducting welfare visits and supporting individuals and families settling into their homes and communities, helping people access services such as healthcare, benefits, ESOL, and employment support and providing guidance on community resources to promote integration and independence.
We are looking for candidates who:
- Has broad experience within a similar service or a related area, working to support the welfare needs of communities in need
- Is able to work effectively with partners and volunteers to delivery high quality services and a holistic response to need
- Has an understanding of the role of statutory and community services in supporting welfare and promoting wellbeing and how to access key services
- Has proven knowledge, experience and ability to deal with vulnerable customers with tact and empathy in difficult situations and / or challenging circumstances and to make decisions in complex and challenging situations
- Has written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills, able complex issues clearly
