An exciting opportunity have arisen for highly motivated individuals with skills and experience working in the area of family support.

As a Keyworker you will be responsible for delivering a range of interventions with families on your caseload where there is child or young person in the family with a severe and enduring learning disability and may include physical disability.

You will complete an assessment with each family on your caseload and develop an Early Help Plan that identifies support to be offered that is clear and measurable. You will then work closely with family members for up to 20 weeks providing targeted support to assist them to make the changes identified in the Plan.

The Keyworker will liaise with mainstream and community services to promote the inclusion of disabled children and young people and to ensure that disabled children and their families receive timely, coordinated support.

Key functions of the role:

  • Giving advice and support to families to access a range of services available to disabled children and their family essential for effective early intervention.
  • Working directly with the family to support on a range of complex areas. Understanding and supporting the unique experiences of parents/carers of disabled children that are on the CoN at Level 2
  • Working directly with children/young people. Ensuring the voice of children within the family is heard through adapted methods.
  • Support with disability specific administration tasks to aid families including DLA applications, housing applications, blue badge applications, access to benefit and debt advice and relevant charities.
  • Coordinate and deliver parenting support for parents of children with disabilities. Deliver evidence based bespoke support that is flexible and creative, incorporating communication, sleep and routine support

The people we are looking for will have:

  • RQF level 3 qualification in a relevant subject eg. community development, health and social care, counselling, childcare, youthwork
  • RQF level 2 English and Maths or ability to pass assessment at interview.
  • Experience of direct working with families with children that have complex needs
  • Experience of undertaking an assessment of need of families and children with complex needs
