We are recruiting a Rights of Way Officer to work in the Rights of Way & Countryside Team. The Team works to make sure that the public has safe and easy access across the County’s 2,000-mile path network.
As a Rights of Way Officer, you will oversee approximately 500 miles of the county’s rights of way network. This will involve providing advice to path users and landowners and often working to resolve opposing interests. The role also involves carrying out inspections, sometimes in remote locations or on rough terrain.
We are looking for candidates who:
- Can interpret maps and use GIS systems
- Commitment to customer service and can communicate, both verbally and in writing
- Can manage a complex and often competing workload
- Are able to travel independently around East Sussex

The role is office-based for at least 2 days per week, working from Heathfield, with optional hybrid/home working at other times.
