East Sussex County Council is committed to supporting residents to live safely and independently within their own homes. We are seeking a dedicated Occupational Therapist to join our Housing Adaptations Team, working collaboratively across housing and social care to deliver practical solutions that make a real difference to people’s lives.
You will be responsible for undertaking person-centred functional assessments in people’s homes and recommending appropriate housing adaptations to promote independence, safety and wellbeing. This includes both minor and major adaptations funded through Disabled Facilities Grants and other local authority funding streams. You will also be responsible for completing housing needs assessment to provide recommendations to support housing decisions ensuring individuals are matched to accommodation that meets their long-term needs.
We are looking for candidates who have:
- An Occupational Therapy qualification and registration with the professional regulatory body
- Communication skills including report writing, liaising with members of the public, managers, and other agencies
- Ability to plan and organise a varied workload for self and others, working to short deadlines within community settings
- Experience of operating under pressure where demand is constant and priorities need to be set/reviewed
- Ability to use initiative and take responsibility
