Do you want to make a difference to children in care and help them flourish and achieve their potential? If so, this could be the job for you! We have Children’s homes across the county, where vulnerable children live and receive support from a multi-disciplinary team of professionals who are responsible for their welfare. As a Residential Youth Support Worker, you will work with the children and their families, and support the children’s development and wellbeing. You can also take a lead on specialist areas and projects such as healthy eating to support improvements across the service. This role gives you the opportunity to make a real difference to the lives of some of the most vulnerable children in East Sussex.
We are looking for people who have experience working with children, an interest in child development and can treat residents of the home with dignity and respect. This role is for waking nights with shift times from 8.45pm to 7.15am, as with all our care staff you will be on shift every other weekend.
We are looking for candidates who have:
- Have an interest in child development and willingness to learn.
- Experience of working with children and young people.
- Treat children with dignity and respect and maintain confidentiality at all times.
- Ability to work as part of an integrated childcare team and demonstrate leadership skills.
- Ability to engage with children and young people with a range of needs. Full training will be provided.
- Ability to have resilience and capacity to cope with a challenging work environment.

Interviews will take place in person within two weeks of the closing date in Eastbourne. Candidates who meet certain criteria are given priority when we shortlist.
We understand that the great care we provide is down to the great staff we have. We provide a comprehensive induction process to teach you all the skills and knowledge you need. We also provide an apprenticeship in the level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare, with off the job training time and all course fees paid for by the Council.
