Do you want to join a team where your clinical judgment makes a real difference? As a Blue Badge assessment officer, you’ll play a vital role in delivering accurate, fair mobility assessments that change lives. The Blue Badge Service helps people with mobility issues or hidden disabilities access essential parking concessions by processing applications in line with Department for Transport guidance.
As a Blue Badge Assessor, you will be responsible for evaluating applications from adults and children in accordance with Department for Transport (DfT) legislation. Assessments may take place via desk-based telephone screening, in face-to-face clinics, or within applicants’ homes. You will support Issuing Officers by identifying individuals who require a formal assessment and determining their eligibility for a Blue Badge. Using established systems and procedures, you will make and communicate decisions on assessment outcomes, ensuring a fair and consistent process.
We are looking for candidates who:
- Have a professional qualification in Occupational Therapy, Physiotherapy or Nursing (Degree or Diploma)
- Have effective verbal and written communication skills, including report writing.
- Have experience of undertaking mobility assessments.
- Are able to make evidence-based decisions and support team members with decision making.
