Student Recruitment & Marketing Officer, Full-time (37 hours per week)

Some people prefer just routine and clear structure. Others enjoy more variety, people, and figuring things out as they go.

If you’re in that second group, you’ll feel at home here.

The role

You’ll be speaking to a wide range of people, mainly school leavers figuring out their next steps, but also adults (young and old) looking to train, upskill, or learn for fun across our higher education and part‑time courses.

You’ll work as part of the marketing team to support how we attract and engage students across the college.

In practice, a lot of your time will be spent working with local schools and supporting events, but you’ll always be part of the bigger recruitment picture.

Support, trust, and how we work

You’ll get proper support when you start - clear guidance, regular check‑ins, and support from a team that wants you to do well. As you build confidence and trust, you’ll have more freedom to run with things and make the role your own.

What you’ll be doing

  • Talking to prospective students, parents, and schools in a way that feels natural
  • Helping people understand their options and feel confident about their next step
  • Representing the college at events, in schools, at other colleges, and on campus
  • Keeping things organised behind the scenes so events and activity run smoothly
  • Working with colleagues across marketing, curriculum, and the wider college to make recruitment activity land well
  • Spotting what could be improved and getting stuck in to make it better

The kind of person who does well here

You don’t need to tick every box, but you do need to be this kind of person:

  • Reliable - you do what you say you’ll do
  • Comfortable talking to anyone
  • Proactive - you don’t wait to be told everything
  • Someone who gets stuck in, even when it’s not strictly “your job”
  • Quick to learn and apply what you pick up
  • The kind of person others enjoy working with

The environment you’re coming into

You’ll be joining a team that’s evolving, so there’s real opportunity to make an impact, bring ideas, and shape how things are done.

We’re looking for someone who brings a positive, proactive approach and helps lift the people around them.

What you’ll get back

  • A role that genuinely makes a positive difference to somebody’s educational journey
  • Variety - no two weeks feel the same
  • The opportunity to grow and get involved in wider recruitment activity over time
  • Grade P2 salary (points 26–28) = circa £29,000 per year
  • Time off in lieu for out-of-hours events
