About the role

Are you passionate about supporting students with multisensory impairments and specific communication needs? Do you thrive in collaborative environments and enjoy helping students overcome challenges to achieve their full potential? We are looking for someone to join our Additional Learning Support team to adopt an inclusive, collaborative, and collegiate approach in providing communication support to identified student or students with multisensory impairments and/or specific speech, communication, and learning needs. You will encourage independence and confidence to participate in all elements of their study programme.

Responsibilities

  • Supporting identified student or students who have multisensory impairments and/or specific speech, communication and learning needs to have access to the teaching and learning environment.
  • Encouraging and making use of appropriate assistive technologies to enable the student to access the curriculum.
  • Working collaboratively with curriculum colleagues seeking/taking direction and providing guidance and support to maximise learning opportunities where required.
  • Promoting awareness and inclusion of hearing or visual impairment, both in and out of the classroom, formally and informally.

Qualifications

  • Interest in and experience of the deaf or blind communities
  • Level 2 Certificate in British Sign Language
  • CSW Level 3 professional qualification
  • RNIB Certificate in Braille Grade 1

Salary and Hours

  • Annual salary: circa £16259 per annum (based on £24921 per annum FTE salary).
  • Hours: part time, 30 hours per week, term time only, 36 weeks per year, permanent contract.
