Location: John Ruskin College – Croydon, East Surrey College – Redhill
Salary Range: Up to £27,105 (subject to qualifications, skills, and experience)
This is a full-time role performed on a rota basis. Current shifts are 07:00‑15:00, 08:00‑16:00, 10:00‑18:00 and 14:00‑22:00.
In this rewarding role you will assist with:
- Setting up and dismantling furniture and equipment for college events
- Monitoring and reporting any maintenance issues to the facilities team
- Working with other staff members and contractors to ensure the college is clean, safe and welcoming
- Providing support to students and staff as needed
The Porter plays a crucial role in maintaining the smooth operation of the college’s facilities.

Qualifications
- Previous experience in a caretaker or similar Porter or Facilities role
- Knowledge of Health and Safety regulations
- Basic knowledge of using online systems and Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook
- Maths & English GCSE / Level 2 equivalent (achieved or willing to obtain)
- Qualified driver with clean driving licence; a licence certified to drive Group D1 vehicles is desirable
