Do you have the experience to lead and develop a mentoring provision that truly makes a difference to young people? If yes, we’d love to hear from you. We’re looking for a Mentor Lead to drive a high-quality, targeted mentoring offer across East Surrey College and John Ruskin College, supporting students at risk of becoming NEET (Not in Education, Employment or Training), and helping them build confidence, independence and employability skills.

This is a key role within our Inclusion and Wellbeing team, where you will lead mentoring initiatives that improve student engagement, attendance, retention and progression particularly for vulnerable learner groups. You will coordinate a structured mentoring approach, oversee interventions, and work closely with safeguarding, curriculum and student support teams to ensure every student feels supported and able to succeed.

The successful candidate must have:

  • Relevant qualification in mentoring, youth work, education, wellbeing or in a related area or willing to work towards one
  • Experience working with young people in an education, youth work or support setting
  • Knowledge of strategies to improve student engagement, attendance and retention
  • Understanding of safeguarding and child protection duties and procedures
  • Strong report writing skills, with the ability to present clear summaries, insights and recommendations
