We are currently seeking to appoint an inspirational and enthusiastic Construction Technician to join our new Construction department at John Ruskin College. This post would suit an individual who has a background working in various different Construction trades such as Brickwork, Carpentry & Plumbing and understands the basic principles of working within these areas. Candidates will be enthusiastic, self-motivated with excellent communication skills, and with a committed approach to your work you will maintain a high quality learning environment for our learners.
Responsibilities
- Supporting students in their learning of practical skills in the workshops.
- Supervising and maintaining workshops ensuring adherence to health and safety regulations.
- Ordering stock and maintaining a stock of consumables.
- Preparing materials for student activities.
- Cleaning and maintenance of the equipment.
Qualifications
- At least a Level 2 vocational qualification in Brickwork, Carpentry or Plumbing.
- Knowledge/industry experience of working within at least two of the following areas: Brickwork, Carpentry & Plumbing.
- Experience of working with young people.
- Full First Aid Qualification (or willing to obtain).
- A pro-active approach and be able to work on their own initiative.
