Join East Suffolk Council’s Funding Team as a Funding Officer based in Lowestoft or Melton. The role supports cross‑district work across East Suffolk and Ipswich.
Role Overview
You will collaborate within the Funding Team to deliver a high‑quality funding service. Working with Economic Development & Regeneration and Communities teams, you will attract and manage funding that supports priority projects and benefits local communities and businesses.
Key Responsibilities
- Secure and maximise external funding for economic development, regeneration, community and business initiatives.
- Identify funding opportunities and develop high‑quality funding bids.
- Manage Council‑led grant programmes such as Sizewell C, Enabling Communities and Community Partnership budgets.
- Assess applications, undertake due diligence, monitor funded projects and ensure fair allocation of funding to achieve real impact.
- Provide practical funding advice and signposting to external organisations.
- Promote funding opportunities to internal and external audiences.
- Contribute to a collaborative, values‑led working culture.
About You
- Experience working with external funding, ideally within local government, economic development, regeneration or community‑focused environments.
- Confidence in supporting or leading funding applications and managing grant programmes.
- Strong understanding of funding bodies, national, regional and local policy frameworks.
- Experience working with businesses, communities and a wide range of stakeholders.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal and networking skills.
- Analytical, detail‑focused, good numeracy, research and data‑handling skills, with a creative solution‑focused approach.
- Degree level education or equivalent; motivated, organised, able to work independently and as part of a team.
- Commitment to equality, diversity, continuous improvement and data protection; willingness to travel across the district.
