We currently have exciting new opportunities to join the East Suffolk Council’s Business Systems Team as an Information Systems Technician.

Main Purpose of the Role

As an Information Systems Technician, you will work closely with the Information Systems Administrator to support the development, enhancement, and delivery of business systems across the organisation. You will play a key role in driving technological change and improving business processes, ensuring that user needs remain central to every solution. The role will predominantly be focused on supporting the Housing systems of the Council, contributing to customer satisfaction and excellent customer service.

This role supports a range of critical services, applying strong analytical thinking and careful attention to detail to deliver effective, user-focused outcomes. You will contribute to creating and maintaining systems that enable accurate data capture, reliable reporting, and informed decision-making, while consistently delivering a high standard of customer service.

As an Information Systems Technician, you’ll play a central role in supporting, developing and enhancing the organisation’s business systems. You’ll contribute to improvements across processes, systems and services that underpin critical operations, ensuring our software remains robust, efficient and compliant with evolving business and legislative needs.

Working in partnership with the Information Systems Administrator, you’ll also support broader digital initiatives and collaborative projects across the organisation. In this role, you will deliver high quality 2nd/3rd line technical support by responding swiftly to incidents, resolving complex issues and maintaining system stability and availability.

You’ll manage system updates, user permissions, configuration and workflow maintenance, while also supporting system upgrades through effective communication, coordination, testing and end-user training. Your work will enable teams to capture accurate data, achieve performance targets, and make well-informed decisions.

You’ll also tailor system modules to user needs, collaborate with third-party support partners, and stay current with emerging technologies through webinars, user groups and benchmarking activities. Alongside maintaining client software and supporting both physical and virtual server environments, you will help ensure essential public-facing systems run seamlessly.
