East Suffolk Council is looking for a Corporate Fraud Intelligence Officer to join the Corporate Fraud Team within the Internal Audit Team. This part‑time role (15 hours per week, pro rata salary £26,403 – £28,142) is based in Riverside, Lowestoft, NR33 0EQ and/or Melton, Woodbridge, Suffolk IP12 1RT. The contract is permanent.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the Single Point of Contact between the Council and other departments (internal and external) ensuring effective communication.
  • Analyse and interpret large quantities of data to detect potential fraud cases.
  • Perform work methodically and logically with strong attention to detail, producing evidence for court cases.
  • Produce formal written reports, liaise with investigators, and present complex information and evidence to colleagues and stakeholders.
  • Assist in reducing fraud and error within the public sector, supporting complex investigations and maintaining the integrity of systems.
  • Participate in data matching and sampling activities to identify suspected fraud while complying with Data Protection Act regulations.

Qualifications and Requirements

  • Inquisitive and proactive mindset suitable for investigative work.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
  • Procedural knowledge of the State Benefit system is desirable.
  • Full driving licence and access to a car are essential.
  • DBS check and psychometric evaluation required.
