Overview
Your role
We currently have an exciting opportunity to join the East Suffolk Council\’s Building Maintenance Team as a Carpenter to undertake various carpentry works to the Authorities Housing Stock.
We are a large provider of social rented housing in the district, with circa 4,500 units and an annual repairs and maintenance budget of £6.5 million. In response to recent Government policy, we have started a programme of Housing Development which will increase the council\’s stock holding to approximately 5,100 units and will optimise the stock portfolio for current and future use.
Responsibilities
Responsibilities include undertaking carpentry works across the Housing Stock and contributing to delivery of projects to a good standard.
What you will need
You will:
- be qualified to City and Guilds in carpentry (or equivalent) or have a minimum of 5 years relevant site experience in carpentry and maintenance
- be competent in all carpentry areas
- be able to enable the delivery of projects to a good acceptable standard
- have a good understanding of the use of digital handheld devices such as smart phones and tablets
- have basic IT knowledge in areas such as opening and sending emails
- be in possession of a current full UK driving licence is essential to this role.
As part of your contractual duties, you will be required to take part in our out of hours stand by rota arrangements for which you will receive additional remuneration.
You may be required to complete a practical and / or theory test as part of the selection process.
