We have an exciting opportunity for a dynamic and enthusiastic Senior Respiratory Physiologist with significant experience in both disciplines of Lung Function & Sleep Diagnostics to lead the respiratory physiology at Ipswich Hospital.
The Respiratory Physiology service provides a range of routine investigations including spirometry, gas transfer, static lung volumes (by body plethysmography and nitrogen washout), reversibility testing, FeNO and respiratory muscle strength testing. The Sleep Service is a diagnostic and therapeutic service, diagnosing and providing comprehensive domiciliary CPAP treatment to over 3000 patients with OSAHS.
You will manage a team of respiratory physiologists. You will contribute to the teaching and training of staff which may include physiologists, student physiologists, Doctors in training and medical students. Along with the ability to perform a wide range of respiratory and sleep physiology investigations you should have experience of managing a team, have excellent communication skills and have great multi-tasking skills.
Main duties of the job:- Provide a comprehensive respiratory and comprehensive sleep investigative clinical service to patients of all ages referred from a wide range of specialities.
- Provide expert opinion, advice and interpretation of simple, specialist, complex and highly complex assessments to medical staff and other healthcare professionals.
- Provide management, leadership and clinical training of Lung Function Unit staff and other staff groups.

- Post graduate experience
- Practical experience and familiarity with a wide range of simple, specialist, complex and highly complex Respiratory/Sleep investigations performed by the department
- Practical experience and knowledge of operating specialist Respiratory/Sleep services.
- Experience as a Chief Respiratory Clinical Physiologist
- Supervisory experience
