An exciting opportunity has arisen to apply for the role of a Point of Care Testing (POCT) Coordinator Band 7 at East Suffolk and North Essex NHS Foundation Trust within the Biochemistry POCT department. This is a part-time position of 15 hours per week, with flexible working hours between Monday and Friday. The role covers both Colchester and Ipswich Hospitals, and involves working collaboratively with other POCT Coordinators.

As a POCT Coordinator, your responsibilities include assisting the POCT manager in managing the team, including Associate Practitioners. Your primary focus will be on training and ensuring the quality of POCT devices within the trust. Knowledge of UKAS standards is beneficial, as the department is working towards UKAS Accreditation.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the POCT service in collaboration with the team
  • Manage and coordinate daily team activities
  • Drive service improvements
  • Ensure the accuracy and quality of results
  • Provide specialist advice to clinicians
  • Offer specialist services such as training, advanced troubleshooting, and problem-solving for specific requirements
  • Work flexibly to meet service needs, including possible extended hours and participation in a 24/7 service
  • Handle materials involving human body fluids, tissues, and hazardous chemicals responsibly
  • Maintain and promote a professional image of the pathology department
