The Role
A Your Money Advisor (Level 2) is a key part of the Revenues and Benefits team helping to deliver a first-class service to the residents of the East Riding.
Our service must be delivered in a timely manner to those facing personal crisis. This will involve:
- Helping to sustain tenancies.
- Advising customers on ways to maximise their income.
- Understanding and explaining benefit entitlement.
- Setting sustainable arrangements for rent and council tax arrears.
- Understanding priority debts.
- Referring or signposting to other services both internal and external.
- Maintaining in-depth case notes.
The Candidate
You must have a working knowledge of welfare benefits and in-depth knowledge of housing rent recovery and council tax recovery as this is a level 2 post. Desirable criteria inclues a Level 3 financial qualification.
You will need to be supportive and empathetic with our customers but must be able to give clarity around priority debts either over the telephone, letter, or email. You must have the ability to stay calm in difficult situations and work well under pressure and meet targets.
Good organisational skills and attention to detail is crucial. You must be able to build a rapport with our customers and colleagues. Excellent communication skills and the need to maintain confidentiality is a requirement.
A full working knowledge of IT applications including Microsoft Office, Northgate, Active H and NECDM.
As this post is temporary, please speak to your current manager about a secondment request if required.
