Willerby Carr Lane Primary School is a friendly, well-regarded two-form entry community primary school with an established Enhanced Resource Provision (ERP) supporting pupils with significant SEND, primarily Communication and Interaction needs. We are seeking to appoint a skilled, reflective and inclusive Assistant Headteacher to work within EYFS and Key Stage One. This role is central to our commitment that we dream big, believe we can and we can all achieve excellence. A start date will be arranged with the successful candidate taking into account individual circumstances but should not be after January 2027.

The successful candidate will teach and support pupils from age 8 to 11 to ensure ambitious, personalised and meaningful learning outcomes for all pupils alongside providing leadership within the school. The Role

  • Deliver high-quality, inclusive teaching for all pupils including those with complex learning difficulties
  • Ensure that all children make progress and achieve highly
  • Adapt the curriculum to ensure it is ambitious, well-sequenced and accessible to meet a range of individual needs
  • Plan, deliver and assess learning using adaptive teaching strategies, ensuring all pupils make strong progress from their individual starting points
  • Foster a positive, safe and inclusive classroom environment where pupils feel secure, understood and supported
  • Use creative, flexible and child-centred approaches to celebrate achievement and promote engagement
  • Work confidently with behaviour that may challenge, using inclusive, proactive and trauma-informed strategies
  • Lead and work collaboratively with other staff, modelling high expectations and inclusive practice
  • Liaise effectively with parents, carers, governors and multi-disciplinary professionals to support outcomes
  • Use ICT effectively to support learning, communication and accessibility
  • Contribute to a strong culture of teamwork, reflection and continuous improvement

As Assistant Headteacher, you will:

  • Work alongside the headteacher and leadership team to provide strategic and operational leadership of EYFS and Key Stage 1
  • Provide support, leadership, development and challenge for the EYFS and KS1 staff team
  • Create successful relationships with parents, carers and the wider community
  • Liaise effectively with external agencies to support the highest quality of education
  • Plan, lead and deliver successful school improvement with particular focus on securing foundational knowledge and progress for all children
  • Use research and effective networks to ensure best practice within school
