St. Anne’s School, Sixth Form College and Residence is a thriving Local Authority maintained Special School catering for 160 pupils aged 2-19 years. Our pupils have a wide range of complex needs including Severe Learning Difficulties (SLD), Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties (PMLD) and Autism Spectrum Conditions (ASC). Our pupils attend from the East Riding of Yorkshire and beyond. Alongside our day provision there is a Local Authority residential facility which provides respite care for some of our pupils. At St. Anne’s School our motto is “We All Achieve”. We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated teacher to join our team with a commitment to deliver outstanding learning, inclusive opportunities and positive outcomes for all our pupils.

As a class teacher you will:

  • Have experience and an understanding of working with pupils with complex and Severe Learning Difficulties and Autism.
  • Have a track record of demonstrating a strong ability to plan, deliver and assess highly differentiated and engaging lessons which are outstanding and in line with the Teaching Standards.
  • Be able to foster a positive, inclusive classroom where every pupil is valued and supported.
  • Have a knowledge and understanding of different curriculums.
  • Be confident in leading and working collaboratively with a team of Learning Support Assistants and liaising with professional practitioners.
  • Be skilled in managing behaviour which may challenge.
  • Have excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Be committed to working in partnership with staff, parents and carers and the local community to promote outstanding learning opportunities for all.
  • Have effective ICT skills.
  • Demonstrate experience of working in partnership with colleagues, parents, governors and multi-disciplinary agencies.
  • Promote communication, emotional wellbeing and independence in every aspect of pupils’ learning.
  • Embrace creative approaches to teaching and learning that celebrate achievement and inclusivity.

The selection process will include the requirement to prepare and teach a specific lesson to a group of pupils. Successful candidates will then go through to a formal interview.
