Teacher (Year 6) - Fixed-Term Contract (Easter 2026 - Easter 2027)

Full-time or part-time (0.6 FTE considered)

Mount Pleasant CE VC Junior School are seeking an enthusiastic and committed teacher to join our caring and dedicated teaching team on a fixed-term basis from Easter 2026 until Easter 2027. This role is based in Year 6, and applications are welcome from Early Career Teachers (ECTs) through to MPS6. Consideration will be given to both full-time and part-time (0.6 FTE) working arrangements.

About the Role

As a Year 6 teacher, you will play a vital role in supporting pupils during a crucial stage of their learning journey. You will be responsible for delivering high-quality teaching and learning, ensuring that all children are supported, challenged and inspired to achieve their best outcomes academically, socially and emotionally.

The successful candidate will be a reflective and engaging practitioner with a passion for teaching and learning, and a commitment to nurturing confident, independent learners. You will work collaboratively with colleagues, support staff and parents to provide a positive and inclusive learning environment, and contribute to the wider life of the school.

You will demonstrate high expectations, strong classroom practice, and the ability to adapt teaching to meet the needs of all learners, including those with SEND. You will also contribute to the school\'s Christian vision, helping to create a safe, inclusive and happy environment where children are encouraged to be creative, independent and reflective.

Job Requirements

We are looking for a motivated and flexible teacher who:

  • Is a qualified teacher (or ECT) with a passion for primary education
  • Has high expectations of pupil achievement and behaviour
  • Demonstrates strong classroom practice and effective assessment for learning
  • Can adapt teaching to meet a range of learning needs, including SEND
  • Works well both independently and as part of a supportive team
  • Builds positive relationships with pupils, parents, carers and the wider school community
  • Has good communication, organisation and time-management skills

Experience of teaching in upper Key Stage 2, particularly Year 6, would be desirable but is not essential.
