About the recipient:
- Female and own transport essential
- This role is to support a female living in Beverley.
- She is seeking two support workers to provide a total of 24 hours per week, including cover for one another.
- The purpose of this support is to help alleviate unavoidable pressures around the home, particularly during times when tasks build up due to physical limitations.
- The individual values her independence and likes to take care of things herself; however, due to reduced physical ability and slow movement, particularly down the left side of her body, daily tasks can take longer and sometimes become overwhelming.
- There is a risk of falls, which may temporarily increase her need for support, causing household duties to fall behind and accumulate.
- Support workers will work with her, not take over, to ensure that tasks are completed in a way that maintains her dignity, independence, and emotional wellbeing.
- The individual loves animals and has two friendly dogs in the home. Support workers must therefore be comfortable working around pets.
- This role is about building a trusting, respectful relationship that promotes independence while providing practical and emotional support when needed.
About the role:
- The successful candidate will be responsible for:
- Assistance with various domestic tasks (e.g. cleaning, laundry, meal preparation, general household organisation).
- Helping reduce stress within the home environment.
- Support with transport to medical and other appointments.
- Support with school drop-offs and collections.
- Flexible support that adapts during periods of reduced mobility or recovery.
- Shopping.
- Personal care such as assistance getting out of the shower.
Hours: 24 hours per week available; however, we require 2 workers to ensure that we have appropriate cover during periods of annual leave. Please specify on your CV how many hours would be preferred.
About the candidate:
- Be motivated, proactive and able to work on their own initiative.
- Be patient, caring and understanding.
- Have good communication skills (clear and effective communication).
- Be able to build a positive relationship with the individual to both encourage and support them.
- Have previous experience caring for an individual with additional needs.
- Be flexible to accommodate the hours of work where necessary.
- Be a team player and able to work effectively alongside another carer.
- Must have use of own car, to transport individual to social activities and appointments.
- Be comfortable with animals to assist with the individual’s dogs.
DBS/Reference checks will be required for this post - Cost to be met by the local authority.
Travel: Some travel across East Riding of Yorkshire may be required; applicants must be able to transport themselves.
