An exciting opportunity has arisen within the Environmental services, street cleansing team for a Street Cleansing Operative.
To undertake, either individually or as part of a team to remove all litter and detritus from streets, open spaces and other associated land to a high standard. To work in accordance with pre-determined work schedules and standards determined by the Council.
A full driving licence is essential with the entitlement to drive 7.5 tonne vehicles (driving licence class C1).
To form part of a team of street cleansing operatives, or to work alone, to ensure ERYC's towns, streets and open spaces are cleaned to a high standard. Utilising a range of plant, tools and equipment, e.g. street cleansing vehicles, brush, barrow, blower and pedestrian controlled mechanical sweeper.
Maintain and take responsibility for your equipment, which includes daily checks and cleaning your equipment, when appropriate. Participate in the Council's initiatives to improve the street scene environment, e.g. report environmental defects.
The ability to work on your own initiative, along with having good communication and good customer care skills are essential for this post. A suitable level of fitness is required to cope with the demands of the role, with the ability to work in all weathers and the ability to start work early mornings.
The role is based at the Hedon depot, so good local knowledge would be useful.
