This is an external vacancy and is not employment with East Riding of Yorkshire Council. A lady with a long-term brain injury requires a support worker to assist with everyday issues and household tasks. This lady has 4 children and requires support to maintain a parenting role, allowing her to complete tasks involved.
She requires someone who can form a good relationship with her and gain her trust. This lady has no mobility problems and does not have personal care needs. She can be forgetful due to the brain injury but does have capacity and wants to care for her children.
She requires support with household duties and light domestic duties such as:
- Putting washing away
- Cleaning the kitchen after use
- Supporting her to keep her home tidy and safe
Occasional handy work will be required to do odd jobs around the home such as:
- Changing light bulbs
- Putting together furniture
- Reporting repairs
This lady requires prompts to deal with correspondence and help with finances etc. The applicant must be trustworthy, reliable and flexible.
Breakdown of hours: 18.5 hours per week Mon to Fri to collect children from school and some domestic support around the home. Usual start time will be from 2.30pm, this may be later if there are after school clubs. Exact start times to be confirmed at interview.
There are additional hours available during school holidays. There is also a post for a PM support worker for 7.5 hours per week so holiday/sickness cover may be required where possible.
DBS/Reference checks will be required for this post - Cost to be met by the local authority. The Direct Payments Support Service is an in-house service provided by the East Riding of Yorkshire Council. The service promotes independent choice and inclusion, allowing our service users to employ their own care and support as needed.
We support many individuals with varying abilities, assisting with advertising and recruitment for a range of roles including support workers, carers and personal assistants.
Some travel across East Riding of Yorkshire may be required, applicants must be able to transport themselves. This post is subject to an enhanced DBS clearance check.
