East Riding of Yorkshire Council, through their Partnership Arrangement with Humber Teaching NHS Foundation Trust provides mental health Social Care as part of an Integrated Community Mental Health service. Our role as Mental Health Social Workers/Care Officers is to promote the unique contribution that Social Care Work brings to the field of mental health practice, and in particular our statutory responsibilities under the Care Act 2014, Mental Capacity Act 2005 and Mental Health Act 1983.
There can be no health without mental health – and no mental health services without social work and social care. Social Care has a distinctive contribution to make to the current challenges in care through its focus on the whole person in their social context and the significance of social networks to mental wellbeing (Transforming Mental Health Social Work, HEE 2020).

- As an East Riding of Yorkshire Council Care Officer, you will work alongside colleagues from within other adult services, for example our Community Wellbeing Teams. You will be part of a multi-disciplinary team with Social Workers, Nurses, Occupational Therapists Psychologists and Psychiatrists. There are weekly Multi-Disciplinary Team meetings where you can bring cases you want to speak about and get professional advice, achieving the best outcomes for service users.
