Mount Pleasant CE VC Junior School, Princess Road, Market Weighton, YO43 3BY
Mount Pleasant is a proud Church of England junior school where Christian values underpin a supportive, inclusive, and welcoming environment for all. As a junior school, our community specifically serves Key Stage 2, welcoming children as they take their next big step and start their journey with us in Year 3. We are dedicated to ensuring every single child thrives, and we are now seeking an exceptional teacher who shares our commitment to the distinctiveness of a Church school to lead our specialised nurture team.
About the Role & The Opportunity
In this deeply rewarding role, you will report directly to the SENDCO. Your primary responsibility will be to provide a high-quality, inclusive education for a core group of full-time pupils with EHCPs, while also supporting part-time access for pupils with significant needs.
Shape the Future of Our Provision
Our On‑Site Nurture Provision is currently only one year old, and we are fully committed to developing it further. We are looking for a creative individual who is excited by the opportunity to bring fresh ideas, innovate, and actively help build and shape this vital resource from its foundational stages. A central element of this role is the active planning and implementation of strategies to transition children back into mainstream classes. You will work collaboratively with class teachers across the school to ensure that these transitions are successful, helping pupils gain the independence and social inclusion necessary to thrive in our wider school community.
To support you in delivering a truly bespoke, differentiated curriculum, our dedicated On‑Site Nurture Provision offers an excellent, purpose‑built set‑up:
- Small Class Size: You will teach a small, focused cohort of no more than around 6 children across Years 3 to 5, allowing for highly individualised learning.
- Full‑Time Support: You will have the dedicated assistance of a full‑time Teaching Assistant working directly alongside you every day.
- The Space: A wonderful classroom environment that boasts lots of space for dynamic learning activities, complete with secure doors to provide a safe, calm, and structured setting.
If you are a patient educator with a calm but firm manner, a great sense of humour and a genuine passion for nurture‑based education, we would love to hear from you.
Safeguarding
Mount Pleasant CE VC Junior School is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children. The successful candidate will be subject to standard pre‑employment checks, including an enhanced DBS check, online checks and an internal reference check.
